Hans-Dieter Dreher says he developed a passion for the equestrian world since he was born. Hans, Hansi for friends,  grew up with horses in his father’s stable, participating in his first competition at the tender age of seven. The following year, he took part in his first contest and then became the Baden-Württemberg champion twice. His career began like this, and it continued to rise steadily.

The bond between a horse and a rider is special. Speaking of Hansi’s relationship with his horses, it is necessary to mention Embassy II, who retired from the sport in 2019 at the age of 18. For years, the pair was a constant in international show jumping.

In 2011, they celebrated their first international victory. In 2012, they won the Grand Prix in Braunschweig (CSI4*), Munich-Riem (CSI3*), and Crans-Montana (CSI3*), as well as various show jumping competitions. They were also called up for the first time in a Nations Cup team and won at Spruce Meadows.

Among the highlights of his career, it is worth mentioning the year 2005 when he became the Baden-Württemberg show jumping champion. Dreher had his international breakthrough in 2011 when he rode Turner and Magnus Romeo to his first major victory, winning the CSI3* Pioltello Grand Prix in Italy. Hans then participated in various Nations Cups and the World Championships. In June 2011, he received the monthly “Rolex One to Watch” award from the FEI for his remarkable rise in the world rankings.

Of the many accolades he has received, it is worth mentioning his appointment as an honorary member of the RV Dreilandereck club in Weil am Rhein, Germany, which he obtained in 2013, as well as the “Rookie of the Year 2011” award from the International Equestrian Federation.

Speaking of the numerous victories of the German rider to remember, in chronological order, is his win at the Amsterdam Grand Prix (CSI5*) riding Elysium at the beginning of 2023. In addition to all of this, Hansi runs the Grenzland stables in Eimeldingen, Germany, owned by the Brandlin family.
