Piazza di Siena: The enchanting equestrian competition that captivated the public

The ninetieth edition of the historic equestrian competition at Villa Borghese has come to an end

Piazza di Siena, one of Rome’s most iconic and captivating locations, provides the perfect backdrop for a high-level equestrian competition. The event took place over four days, from Thursday, May 25th, to Sunday, May 28th, in the oval grass arena of Piazza di Siena and the sand arena at the Galoppatoio di Villa Borghese, attracting equestrian enthusiasts from all around the world.

 

The event saw the participation of 81 riders representing 18 nations, with 10 nations competing for the Nations Cup (Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland) and 8 nations competing individually (Australia, Austria, Canada, Israel, Mexico, Slovenia, United States, and Turkey), in addition to the national-level competitions.

Many Prestige and Renaissance ambassadors took part in this event, and it’s worth mentioning some of the prominent names, such as the world’s number one ranked rider, Sweden’s Henrik Von Eckermann (Renaissance M), Martin Fuchs (Renaissance F2S), Jens Fredricson (Renaissance F)-ambassador Renaissance thanks to the collaboration with Equality Line, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (Renaissance F), Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli (Renaissance F), Richard Vogel (X-Perience), Gerfried Puck (X-Michel Robert), and Irish rider Jessica Burke (Renaissance F2), to name a few. Italian partecipants included Giulia Martinengo Marquet (Michel Robert CPS), Emilio Bicocchi (Michel Robert CPS), using both horses), and Riccardo Pisani (Renaissance F2).

 

 

 

Saturday in the CSI5* category was a glorious day for our ambassadors. Irish rider Jessica Burke (Renaissance F2) claimed victory in the 1.45m class riding Inpulss, the German rider Richard Vogel (X-Perience) stood out with his win in the 1.55m class, taking the top spot on the podium with Chepano Baloubet, and Italian rider Emilio Bicocchi (Michel Robert CPS) triumphed in the Six-Bar competition riding Flinton, sharing the first place with John Whitaker on Greem Grass.

 

On a Sunday that kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the end, Swedish rider Jens Fredricson on Markan Cosmopolit (Renaissance F) secured the second place in the Rolex Grand Prix of Piazza di Siena, providing us with memorable moments in the magnificent setting of this iconic space in the Roman capital.
